WordPress does have many advantages, one of which is the number of plugins that we can use. But we often pay less attention to the use of the plugin, so the existence of the plugin itself can actually cause performance to decrease our blog. If you want to install a plugin on the blog, then there are some things to watch out to avoid mistakes. Actions careful in selecting a plugin is very important, given the current many types of plugins that only serves as a spyware or a malicious program that is placed in the plugin script. Here are some tips you can use before selecting a plugin, such as:

Type of plugin
You should only pick plugin blog that suits your needs. Not recommended to put a lot of plugins in a blog, as this would interfere with the performance of the blog itself, especially if the plugin is used not in accordance with the characteristics of these blogs.

Paid or free
As more and more use of the plugin, of course, you can specify the type of plugin that will be used, whether paid or free. Of each version of the plugin is certainly has its advantages and disadvantages. If you want to seriously pursue the blog, it is better to use a paid plugin, although this is not required, because there are also several free plugins are pretty powerful.

Number of users plugin
Of statistics on the number of plugins download a parameter of the plugin. More and more people use the plugin, it stands to reason that the plugin is quite useful. You can also use a plugin like this to improve the performance of these blogs by first looking at the number of users of existing plugins.

WordPress Tricks & Tips - Be careful to choose a plugin for wordpress

Creating a beauty WordPress themes is not an easy jobs to do. We need to design first from some image editing like a Adobe Photoshop, Ilustrator, or else. We must get use to make a design from the scratch and then put into Photoshop to make some finishing touch.

Create a rounded corner using CSS and JQuery Plugin

To make a nice look themes needs more knowledge, it’s not like we design some printing ads such as brochure, name card, or else that we doesn’t have to think is it compatible with many browser. Actually it’s not only for WordPress themes, but almost all web design we must considered cross browser and also we need to make a clean website that already tested by CSS and HTML Validation.

This time I’d like to shared about how to make a rounded corner which is support all browser. As all we know several browser like Mozilla Firefox, Opera, and Safari has announce that they are compatible with CSS3. It will make our job easier, because they have already support some CSS script to make a rounded corner like this syntax below :

.element {border-radius: 4px}

This code above will set a 4px radius on all 4 corners. Now we need some browser specific CSS combined with a little JavaScript to make this work in all browsers. In Safari, Chrome, and other webkit browsers we use
-webkit-border-radius
and in Firefox and other Mozilla based browsers we use
-moz-border-radius
.

     .corner {
        border-radius: 4px
        -webkit-border-radius: 4px
        -moz-border-radius: 4px
    }

Webkit and Mozilla use different syntax when specifying one corner.

For non Webkit and Mozilla browsers a little jQuery plugin will mimic the border-radius property.

    $(".element").corner("4px");

The jQuery corner plugin allows for more than setting the radius of the corner. You can also set the corner to show as a number of other patterns.

How fast is you website loading all your content ? This question often comes up in my brain when I developed a WordPress Themes.

Many people very concern about W3C standard code of CSS and HTML syntax. For me, W3C standard is important but it’s not become my top list when I developed a themes. I was more concern about how fast a website could load all their contents.

Some people says that WordPress engine was quite slow to load the content just like another PHP framework such as CodeIgniter even though it’s not the same one. But I really enjoy it and it’s become my first priority when I create a web project such as a company profile or a magazine.

Ok then, let’s get to start how to speed up WordPress Engine as your main site.

You need a super cache plugin called W3 Total Cache. Your website will be cached by this plugin and you could speed up more than 30% faster.

Http Express is a HTTP proxy that catches all images, css, javascript and flash movies on the fly to add correct HTTP headers. This plugin create an Expires, Cache-control, Pragma, Last-modified automatically. It could reduce about 20%.

WP-HTML-Compression,This plugin will compress your HTML by removing standard comments and white space; including new lines, carriage returns, tabs and excess spaces. Most importantly, by ignoring pre, textarea, script and Explorer conditional comment tags, presentation will not be affected.This plugin will reduce website load about 30%.

So, you could dramatically make your website very fast using this three plugins and it’s all free to download. Don’t forget to check your site before and after optimize your web.

Here it is some tools you might need to check :

Mozilla Firefox Add Ons : Firebug & YSlow

A Google Font Directory is another services by Google, using Google Font directory will be save more bandwidht and server usage. Many question is how to integrate and Using the Google Font Directory in our WordPress theme. Today I will show you how to do this.

Google Web Fonts

This method is simple, all need to do little experience in CSS and XHTML. The first time is open your
header.php
because we need to add this code.

<link href='http://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Anton' rel='stylesheet' type='text/css'>

And save your header.php
Next step is open your
style.css
on your current theme files. Example in you theme you need to use this font only on Post Title. Add this code on the end of your
style.css

.post h2 {
  font-family: 'Anton', serif;
  font-size: 28px;
}

That’s it default style. If you want added drop shadow effect on your font you can enhanced your style, follow this next example

.post h2 {

There are a lot of Premium WordPress Themes available on the net, our simple question is. Does we really need it? Or we can use Free Themes that also available on the net. To Answer the simple question is, what’s do you really want? What do you really need it with the themes? Is it free version already have it?

Choose Premium Theme - Marisa Miller on Spike

For me, Free High Quality themes is enough, but for some reason such as e Commerce theme, Extra Premium Magazine Theme, Custom News Paper Theme or more sophisticated Theme. Premium theme can be a good alternate. Such as NewsleySingle Licensed or Developer Licensed, new themes from WPZOOM., this is another high quality theme. If you need more colorful, you can tried Yamidoo, Zanko, Evertis, Monograph from the same developer.

This is the sample of Premium Theme that I like it, You can’t download this theme, you need to paid and you’ll get Download Link from WPZOOM.

WordPress Tricks & Tips - Choose Perfect WordPress Theme
